There is isn’t a city in Canada that hasn’t been positively influenced by Italian Canadians who brought their culture to this country, largely at the beginning of the 20th century. You can find Italian food, wine, art and music everywhere. The Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra pays tribute to the music of Italy at our March 2015 concert.

The program features the music of Rossini, Respighi and Donizetti, with performances by the Toronto Choral Society under the direction of Geoffrey Butler and The SPO conducted by Ronald Royer. Performances include:

  • Gioachino Rossini – Overture to Cenerentola (Cinderella)

  • Ottorino Respighi – Gli Uccelli (the Birds)

  • Gaetano Donizetti – Overture to Don Pasquale

  • Gioachino Rossini – Stabat Mater for Solists, Chorus and Orchestra
