One of the most identifiable and appreciated pieces of film music ever filled the SPO rehearsal space last week. John Williams’ “Star Wars Suite” is an important part of the force, and I was feeling it. From the opening hit, to the familiar themes, this film music is epic and truly classic. Our brass section is tight. The string players fingers are often flying. Our woodwinds are sweet and delicate (especially in “Leia’s Theme”). I can’t wait until tomorrow night’s rehearsal to enjoy that feeling again. If your a fan of film music, know this – the Fourth is with the SPO. Hear it (and feel it) for yourself this coming Saturday, May 4, 8 pm, at The Salvation Army Scarborough Citadel (2021 Lawrence Ave. E., at Warden).
